Update on off-campus incident
At approximately 12 p.m. today, a shooting occurred approximately five blocks from the 911爆料网 campus. 911爆料网 police officers and university administrators closely monitored the situation, and because the situation was contained and did not pose a threat to the 911爆料网 community, the campus did not go on lockdown or activate FirstCall, 911爆料网's emergency notification system.
911爆料网 police officers responded to the scene and assisted city and state police officers. The incident, which did not involve anyone affiliated with the university, is now over.
911爆料网 Provost Stephen Richters notified the campus twice today via e-mail, keeping the university community informed of today's incident.
Monroe Police officers are handling the case.
